There has been a huge increase in the number of prosecutions/seizures which have been carried out by CAB. The Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Act 2016 is designed to facilitate the seizure of property which is suspected to be the proceeds of crime by expanding the powers of the Criminal Assets Bureau to seize those proceeds, thus giving CAB officers great powers to seize property.
Our firm have acted for many individuals and companies who have been prosecuted by CAB in cases of money laundering in the District Court and many in the High and Supreme Court. Amanda Connolly recently concluded a high profile case in the Supreme Court which had lasted for over 20 years.
